Healthcare provision is a complex commercial landscape with many service providers. The lack of integrated applications was inhibiting collaboration and some core business activities were not being performed adequately, including accurate billing of customers and the collection of rent.

Our team of seven consultants built and implemented a new network for 518 users over 20 sites alongside a new telephony system with a fit-for-purpose Active Directory and identity service, linked to a cloud identity bridge to enable single sign-on.

The Property Services department of a major healthcare provider needed a strategic digital transformation project to mitigate risks and improve continuity and security.

The Challenge

There were limited opportunities for single sign-on, and our customer’s technology wasn’t ready to support public cloud SaaS offerings. Many of the buildings had their own systems and ways of working, but the lack of a centralised phone system restricted accessibility.

We were engaged to work on a strategic digital transformation project and help the customer use SaaS offerings to mitigate risks and significantly improve continuity and security for the mobile workforce.

The Solution

We reviewed network and communication architecture and produced a strategy paper and board presentation. During this review, there were three key areas we identified for immediate investment. These were identity management, the network and a SaaS collaboration platform.

It was vital that the Property Services provider invested in areas that would significantly improve business processes and reduce unnecessary business costs.

We deployed a project team of seven, including project management, deployment managers and technical/strategic management.

Our aim was to bring about a business that worked for everyone, frontline staff, senior management and the end-users in the buildings. We did it by joining in with their teams and listening to their concerns. We didn’t impose a preset solution, we worked with all levels of the business, heard the frustrations that many felt and developed our plans accordingly..

Project Lead for Leading Resolutions

We customised our thoughts so that they matched entirely what the Property Services provider needed. We didn’t go in with a set of partner vendors either; as always we looked carefully at the exact requirements and matched our advice to their needs.

The key to the success of the project was collaboration; we became part of their organisation and brought their staff into our team and involved them in defining the new way of doing things so that having worked on it, they completely understood it. It became their project

The Results

The project mitigated risks resulting from the lack of investment in infrastructure over many years and the imminent end of life of the current technology. We enabled SLA-driven improvements in resilience, response times, continuity, and security with the ability to respond to cyber-security threats.

With common digital platforms and technologies, the business systems strategy now underpins cultural change efforts and supports greater collaboration with the provider’s remote or mobile workforce.

By implementing a cost model based on actual usage, the provider gained full transparency and fairness.
