Working at Leading Resolutions

Leah Richardson shares experiences from her first 30 days in our Marketing Team.

Wow, how has it been 30 days already?! My short time at Leading Resolutions has absolutely flown by and I have loved every second of it. I won’t lie to you, when I first started here I had no idea what an ‘IT consultancy’ was! And in some ways, I still don’t…but I am learning, and I have learnt so much already about the importance of our clients and relationship building within our industry.

It was clear from day one that Leading Resolutions wanted to increase their brand awareness through their marketing communications, more specifically through the utilisation of their social media presence in order to nurture and grow relationships and engagement.

Admittedly, I was nervous before starting because it was my first ‘real’ marketing job (my previous internship and freelancing work was on a part-time basis and completely remote-based), so the vibe was a little different. I had thoroughly missed the face-to-face conversations and interactions with colleagues during lockdown and I was happy to accept a job offer that meant that I would get to go into the office once a week and build relationships with my colleagues.

Often at companies who state that they are ‘like a family’ in their job description, it can feel disingenuous. However, I quickly learned that this was the truth for Leading Resolutions, everyone is here to help one another and being greeted by such a welcoming reception when I first joined made me feel so comfortable and relaxed.

The on-boarding process has been seamless with all my equipment and log-in details already set up for me before I joined. In previous companies it took over a week to be granted access to company applications, which meant that I was sitting twiddling my thumbs with nothing to do! Luckily, this has not been the case here, I have quickly found my feet within the team and asked so many questions (sorry everyone!).

For me, the biggest challenge has been navigating an industry that I had no prior experience of – although I had previously worked in a few other marketing positions before I started this position as a Marketing Executive, the industries could not be more different. One thing I have learnt though is that throwing yourself in the deep end and learning on the go is how you thrive here.

This particular role appealed to me because I knew that there was a real opportunity here for me to make a difference whilst also exploring different areas of marketing to see where my skill set would lie – for example, I have helped with organising and collating information for internal and external events, I proof-read copy before it is published onto our website, I help our People Director manage our Marketing calendar and all the related activities. I do a lot of chasing for colleagues to send me infographics, copy and marketing collateral for our case studies and insights pieces.

In my free time, I try to write as much and as often as I can (from blogs to copy-writing to journal entries) so I am very excited to utilise this talent of mine at a forward-thinking organisation such as Leading Resolutions. It has been a fantastic 30 days, here’s to the next 30!
