The Future Workspace

With staff unable to travel to the office, the CV-19 pandemic has forced organisations to operate differently.  For many, this has accelerated the ‘agile working agenda’ by a decade in the space of just a few months.

The physical office -
different but still important.

With staff unable to travel to the office, the CV-19 pandemic has forced organisations to operate differently.  For many, this has accelerated the ‘agile working agenda’ by a decade in the space of just a few months.

It is highly likely that successful companies will not want or need as much office space in the future. But all is not well in the world of remote working, with many organisations and their staff experiencing issues:

  • Poor set-ups at home (occupational health)
  • Poor technology at home (connectivity, print, etc.)
  • Inability to separate work and social life
  • Siloed teams with the social aspect of work diminishing and culture and values diluting
  • Management time and difficulties with coaching, training and performance measurement
  • Working from home does not suit all generations or personalities all of the time; there is a ticking mental health time bomb
Going forward, the office workplace will still be important – different yes, but still tremendously important. However, it will need to offer more in the future, and be able to accommodate different needs as one size is unlikely to fit all:

Be a place that people actually want to go to, providing a place for social interaction such as coffee shop areas

Safety – getting there and making sure people feel safe being there

A place to connect with colleagues, clients and community

Support collaborative tasks and team building

Support activity-based working

Support brand, culture and values

How can Leading Resolutions help companies re-evaluate and create the future, agile workplace and way of working?

We can help by starting with the basics – putting in place the right equipment, connectivity, communications and security for remote working or working on the move, including:

  • Architecting infrastructure and applications for the new working landscape
  • Collaboration and project software
  • Paperless and paper-light approaches
  • Technology in the office – e.g., room booking, Audio-Visual, walk-up service desks, print services and more
