The Challenge

IT services at Interserve were provided by separate IT teams within distinct divisions. A group IT division was created in order to drive economies through shared services and common platforms. Central to this was an Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (ePMO) to drive process maturity improvements through the use of common standards, assurance and an appropriate governance at division and enterprise level.  So, we were engaged to bring PMO expertise to implement the ePMO’s objectives as services.

The Challenge

The Solution

Leading Resolutions set up the ePMO implementation as a project with its own identity and brand. A stakeholder communications pack was developed to provide clarity of purpose, rationale and targets for the ePMO rollout and used to drive stakeholder alignment. The ePMO’s aims and deliverables were clarified, and a detailed implementation plan developed with defined and scheduled tasks.
We provided key expertise from our PMO practice to build the ePMO implementation team. This team then created a complete set of PMO delivery frameworks and standards and specified changes for the enterprise planning tool and SharePoint sites to support their deployment.  The team also clarified project, programme and portfolio governance and their relation to division and Group steering committees and defined a core set of reporting metrics.

The Results

The complete set of ePMO portfolio, programme and project standards, delivery frameworks, processes and templates were encapsulated in a ‘PMO-in-a-box’ product ready for rollout by the permanent ePMO team.
