There are a number of ways to drive this activity with a number of variables that differ from client to client.  Variables include the clients’ appetite for collaboration, decision making and governance, depth of data available.

To that end, we have a methodology that caters for most scenarios and can be light touch, small burst of activities to pull together the clients pre-prepared thinking and analysis right through to running a process to define the IT strategy from point 0.

Let’s talk

Case Study

We were asked to audit the IT function to identify issues and make recommendations for change that would allow the business to continue to expand.

Tangerine, home to many of the UK’s favourite sweets, is the UK’s fourth largest sweet maker. Some of their famous brands include Sherbet Fountain, Dip Dab, Black Jack and Fruit Salad, Flumps, Refreshers, and many more.

With hundreds of years of heritage and five busy factories, Tangerine works tirelessly around the clock to deliver the very best confectionery with a combination of both traditional manufacturing methods and state of the art operations.

The Challenge

Following a private equity backed acquisition and disposal strategy, Tangerine Confectionary had multiple well-known brands and an investment in complex manufacturing technology but didn’t have an up-to-date IT environment that could support the business growth plans.

As part of a business review, we were asked to audit the IT function to identify issues and make recommendations for change that would allow the business to continue to expand.

The IT strategy review uncovered some minor challenges with IT security and the need to accelerate the work that was underway in order to comply with upcoming GDPR. As a priority, it identified the need for the implementation of robust process governance to enable the IT department to both improve the delivered service as well as ensure it was positioned to support the business’ next steps.

The Solution
1
Structured interviews and document reviews
2
Assessment of the Technology architecture
3
Review IT organisational setup and IT policies and procedures

The changes needed to create a platform for growth were communicated to the CEO, CFO and senior leadership team. This included the recommendation to increase the level of investment in technology.

Through this process, we identified a number of gaps in the existing strategy and subsequently focussed reviews were completed on:

These reviews determined the actions required to minimise business exposure and meet increasing legislative and market regulations.

As part of the project, we supported the strategic and cultural change required to embed the changes. We worked with the IT team to implement new governance measures and develop communication plans and management reports which were specific to the client’s environment.

The expertise and understanding of our business demonstrated by Leading Resolutions was invaluable in helping us develop our strategic thinking. They supplied clear guidance; the CEO complemented Leading Resolutions particularly on the crystal-clear clarity of their report and conclusions.
